First Christmas

Merry Christmas to all!!! This is Yorek's first Christmas, therefore it is a very special Christmas for all of my family. Not only is it his first Christmas, but he got to spend it with both sets of grandparents and a set of great-grand parents. My mother in law extended her stay to spend Christmas with all of us. A gesture for which everyone is very greatful. Miguel & Felipe had not spent a Christmas with their mother in more than a decade. Santa Clause came on Christmas Eve as he always does with my family, but Yorek was too tired and went to sleep before Santa Clause came. This morning he woke up to many presents. Above all, Yorek really enjoyed unwrapping his gifts. Now that Yorek is here, Christmas has a whole new meaning for Miguel and I as well as for my parents.

Feliz Navidad a todos!!! Esta Navidad fue muy especial, pues esta fuel la primera Navidad de Yorek. No solo fue su primera Navidad, si no que tambien lo pudo celebrar con sus abuelos maternos Y paternos Y tambien sus bisabuelos. La mama de Miguel se quedo con nosotros para Navidad; algo cual hizo a todos muy feliz. Miguel & Felipe no se habian pasado una Navidad con su mama en mas de una decada. Santa Claus vino, pero Yorek ya se habia dormido para cuando llego. Esta mañana se levanto con muchos regalos que Santa Claus y la familia le dejaron. Lo que mas le encanto fue abrirlos. Ahora que Yorek esta en nuestras vidas la Navidad tiene otro significado y otro sabor.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was splendid. We have been so blessed this year with the birth of Yorek. It has been a learning experience for both Miguel and I, but we could not be any happier. Yorek has brought a burst of light into my family and has changed us forever. In addition, God has granted my family another year with my grandparents. My grandfather has been a little delicate, but nonetheless he still infuses us with his wisdom. All in all we have had some trials this year and it has been kind of tough, but I would not change it for the world. To end, we are also very blessed to have shared our Thanksgiving with Miguel's mom. She came from Mexico for his brother's wedding and has prolonged her stay. Miguel and Felipe are elated with her presence. Jacky and I are very happy that she was able to come and spend some time with the kids and the kids could not be happier!

Santiago's Baptism

Miguel and I baptized Santiago, my friend's son yesterday. It was such an honor to be chosen as his Godparents. We owe so much to my friend Martha; she was the one who introduced us to each other. We hope to be there for Santiago and support him in all his endeavors. Martha and Agustin, thanks for trusting us. We love Santiago very much!

2 Months!!!

Yorek has been growing soooo much. He is now 2 months old as of Monday, September 6th. We had his two month check up today. I knew Yorek was pretty big, but I did not know he was HUGE. The following are his stats at two weeks of age:

Length: 20 1/2 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 8 lbs, 8 oz. (45th percentile)
Head Circumference: 37 1/2 (50th percentile)

Now.... these are his stats at 2 months.

Length: 22 3/4 inches (45th percentile)
Weight: 13 lbs 12 oz (90th percentile)
Head Circumference: 41 1/2 (85th percentile)

YES.... Yorek is now our chunky monkey! I was a bit concerned about his weight, but the doctor said he would grow out of it. Actually, I was in shock and had to ask the doctor to repeat his weight to me. Over all the doctor said that Yorek was a perfectly healthy baby!

He also had his first round of numerous shots. Yorek was so brave. He only cried for a little while, ate, and fell asleep before we left the office.

New Born Pictures!!!

On my birthday I decided that as a birthday present I wanted nothing, but to take new born pictures of Yorek. I contacted an amazing photographer who came over to our house and took pictures. Her name is Nicole Whelan and she is just the NICEST person and seems to have so much dedication towards her work. Nicole has sooo much patience with kids. Miguel & I were amazed. After contemplating each picture for I don't know how much time, I finally decided. The folowing are some of the picture we chose:

En mi cumple años decidi que queria tomarle fotos de recien nacido a Yorek. Contacte a una fotografa que fue hasta nuestra casa a tomarle fotos. Fue super paciente, y estamos muy complacidos con su trabajo. No podia escojer cuales fotos comprar, despues de contemplar a las fotos por mucho tiempo pude decidirme. Past 6 weeks

The past 6 weeks have gone by so fast! Never before has time flown before my eyes like now. Yorek is growing. I see his newborn pictures and do not believe that he has grown so big before my eyes, and I would never have noticed it if it were not because of the huge amount of pictures we have taken in the last 6 weeks. Tomorrow is my first day at work and I must confess that I will miss him dearly.

Dante Yorek

Yesterday was a good day. Miguel and I were so nervous and excited. Our little angel was born yesterday. His name is Dante Yorek and he has already made us work harder than anyone in our lives. Yorek arrived at 6:15 p.m., weighting 8 lbs and 1 oz, and measuring 19 3/4 of an inch. I could have sworn I knew how to change diapers, but it has proven a difficult task to accomplish, and Miguel.... well he has never changed a diaper in his life. Even though Miguel has not changed diapers, he is very willing to learn and has been extremely helpful. I am very lucky to have Yorek and Miguel by my side.

Ayer fue un grandioso dia. Miguel y yo estabamos nerviosos y emocionados a la vez. Ayer nacio nuestro angelito. Su nombre es Dante Yorek y ya nos a hecho trabajar a los dos como nadie. Yorek nacio a las 6:15 p.m., peso 3.66 kilos y midio 50.2 cm. Yo puded jurar que sabia cambiar panales, pero eso se me a complicado un poco. Con respecto a Miguel... nunca a cambiado panales, pero esta mas que dispuesto a aprender. Soy muy afortunada de tener a Miguel y a Yorek a mi lado.

Nursery

Yes... we are... unofficially done!!! Miguel worked so hard to finish the nursery. We had a lot of headaches due to the completion of the nursery, but it was well worth it. We both love the way it turned out. We finally chose green as a wall color. I immediately remembered MB & CB. They have a baby on its way and MB wanted to use green in their newborn's nursery. Here is our version of green... and boy.... is it BRIGHT!!!! We replaced the lighting and flooring as well. All we need is for Dante Yorek to decide to finally come so that he can sleep in his room.

Si, no es oficial, por que aun faltan cosas, pero Miguel ya casi acabo el cuarto del bebe. Nos dio muchos dolores de cabeza, pero la verdad y valio la pena. A los dos nos encanta como salio el cuarto. Finalmente escojimos el color verde para unas paredes. Inmediatemente me acorde de unso buenos amigos que tambien estan esperando a su bebe. Mi amiga queria usar verde en el cuarto tambien, pues esta es nuestra version de verde. Muy BRILLANTE!!! Tambien remplasamos el pizo y la luz. Solo necesitamos que ya se decida Yorek a nacer para que duerma en su cuarto.

Ready Or Not... Here He Comes....

The time is approaching... and we are still not quite ready!!! Miguel has had an odessy with the nursery!!! The crib is arriving tomorrow and the braxton hicks are starting to be felt. The pressure is on....

El tiempo se viene... y no precisamente estamos listos. Miguel a tenido toda una odisea tratando de arreglar el cuarto!!! La cuna llegara manana, y siento mas molestias. La presion del la llegada de el bebe ya se siente.... Ahora tendremos que trabajar como monitos de cuerda!

All We Know Is That We Know Nothing!!!

Yes.... All we know is that we know NOTHING!!! Miguel and I went to register and it is amazingo how LOST we felt. We both felt as dumb as ever. There were so many products... so many things to choose from and we just felt so overwhelmed. Because the store we went to did not have some o the products we wanted, we went to another baby store. The difference between one and the other was amazing. The second store's staff was so knowledgeable and knew their products like no one else. The person that helped us made us feel at ease.

Solo sabemos que no sabemos NADA!!!! Miguel y yo fuimos a registrarnos para el bebe a la tienda y nos sentimos ultra PERDIDOS. Los dos nos sentimos tan abrumados e ignorantes. Habian tantos productos... tantas cosas de que escojer.... Tubimos que ir a otra tienda por que tenia unos que habia visto no estaban en la primera tienda. El personal de la segunda tienda estaba tan informado!!! Sabian todo de sus productos como nadie mas. La persona que nos ayudo nos hizo sentir un poco mas tranquilos. La razon por la que fuimos a la segunda tienda fue por el porta bebe. Aun no sabemos cual vamos a comprar.... pero al fin aparte de sentirmos abrumados aprendimos un poquito mas, pero sobre todo nos dimos cuenta que conocemos muy poco de bebes.

New News!!!

Miguel and I have some news that may not be new for some, but will be for others. In November, we found out we were pregnant. Being that I had a miscarriage in July, I did not want to tell many people. I was scared. I did not want the same thing to happen again. We are now 20 weeks along and the probability to miscarry has greatly diminished. We actually now know the gender. Our kid is a boy! Miguel and I are very excited and cannot wait to actually meet and hold our baby. Time has passed by so fast and we are starting to get ready and clear a room for a nursery. There are so many decisions to make, so many names to pick from, so many nursery themes and colors to choose. It is quite overwhelming, but fun!

Miguel y yo tenemos noticias que seran noticias para unos, pero no para otros. En Noviembre nos dimos cuenta de que estamos esperando un bebe. Ya tenemos 20 semanas y nos faltan 20 mas. Hasta ya sabemos el sexo del bebe... es un niño! Miguel y to estamos muy emocionaos y no podemos esperar a tenerlo entre nuestros brazos. El tiempo a volado y estoy segura que las siguientes 20 semanas se pasaran aun mas rapido. Hay tantas decisiones que tomar... tantos nombres de donde escojer, tantos colores de donde escojer para su cuarto. Por lo pronto ya comensamos a limpiar un cuarto para el.
