Mothers... Mothers.... Mothers

I know its kind of late to write a blog about mothers, but here it goes...
This blog is dedicated to mothers, to those who struggle, to those who laugh, and help us. My mom is the most inspiring, wonderful, most supportive person in the world. Diana & I are so lucky to have her. In addition to my moma, and grandma I have two other inspiring women. Blanca and Carmen have also been very supportive and wonderful to me, they are like my other mothers... hehe How lucky is Miguel with so many mother-in-laws?

Bad Day?

I saw this on one of my co-workers myspace site and I could not resist! I think that is the best medication to take after a hard day at work... or at home.... or anywhere! If only I knew where they sell them... hehehe

Pecan Street Festival

Sunday we went to the Pecan Street Festival and we found that a bar was playing Texano music.... it was so funny.... all hispanic people (with disregard to their personality or style of clothing; cholo, ghetto, coconuts etc.) had a little radar... and they actively searched to see where the music came from. There were A LOT of Mexican American and chicanos (they are different to me) who were really jamming to the music. I thought that it was very interesting to see how no matter how much people try to change or are Americanized, they always come back to their roots. By the way, this picture was taken at that bar by a drunk man!

Immigration Protest- May Day

Even though Miguel is already a legal resident, immigration is still a very important issue that I passionately support. Today, I went to an immigration protest for May Day. There are still so many people that can benefit from immigration reform. There are still so many families who are being seperated and so many kids that are being left with the state as their guardian because their parents have been deported. There is great fear in the Austin immigrant community now that ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) is here in Austin. The fear was visible in the numbers that turned out today. I am very hopeful that our government will someday give immigrants the opportunity to prove themselves. If immigrants were legalized.... the U.S. government would be able to recieve about $25 BILLION dollars in taxes and penalties. A decision for a comprehensive immigration reform would be a positive decision for all parties.
