Hilario Delgado

Ayer Miguel y yo fuimos a Piedras ayer. Me dio tanta emocion.
Yesterday Miguel and I went to Piedras Negras. I passed by the house in the picture and told Miguel that my family lived there long long ago. Miguel convinced me to stop the car to check out the house. I stopped and before we got out of the car a lady walked out of another home. We saw her, but thought nothing. After observing the house for a couple of minutes I decided to ask the lady if she knew if the house was for rent. This was a pretty dumb question because the home is in very bad shape. She proceeded to tell me that it was not for rent that she had other houses for rent. I told her that my family lived there and she looked at me incrediously, her family had been the owners for the last 50 years. She then asked what was my last name, I said "Delgado" and as soon as I mentioned that information she was very friendly. It so happens that her family bought the house form my family. Not only did she talk to Miguel and I for a long while, but she spoke very highly of my family. She actually knew my grandfather ( I never met him, he passed a year before I was born) and told me that he was born in that house. The owner of the home was Hilario Delgado, he was my grandfather's grandfather who was also the mayor of Ciudad Porfirio Diaz, now known as Piedras Negras in 1898. Her husband and my grandfather were friends. She promised that later on she would let Miguel and I go in the house and look at the garden that also belonged to the home. They said that the house was very beautiful. My father also told me that long ago (about 100 years ago) during a flood, everyone in Piedras took refuge in that house. I know it may look like a pretty ugly house to you, but I have always wanted to buy the house and restore it to what it originally looked like. I hope that one day I can do that, but for now I am happy to be able to talk to the owner and visit the home. A funny fact is that she told me that at one time her husband had turned the home into a funeral home and many people are scared to walk at night in front of the home, the call it the "creepy house," to me it is everything but creepy, in fact, it has a really special vibe to me.

Hello
Hilario Delgado is my grandmother's grandfather. My grandmother's father was Antonio Delgado. My mother is trying to contact all her relatives to find out more about her family. If you read this please contact me. My name is Hector L Barrera. My mother is Patricia Barrymore and my grandmother's name was Maria Luisa Garcia. I believe Rafael is her brother.
Thank you
