Today I went to Marshalls and was very upset to see the following...
An adult kept on... basically harrasing a child by telling him that he was "stupid" and that she would "kick his a**." The poor child... his name is Diego was hardly misbehaving, he was just being a child. At that time he should have been at school, not at the store with... I think it was his sibling. I could not help myself anymore and I had to stop her. I told started by telling her that "Diego" is a beautiful name and that she should not be telling him that he was stupid, that she would only make him have a poor self-esteem. She proceeded to ask him if he had a low self-esteem and prompted him to obviusly say no. Poor child... I was devistated. I was saddened because she was probably treated that way; I was sad because that child will grow to be an adult who believes that he deserves nothing more than failure. It makes me sick to see an adult treating a child in that manner and would have done anything to make that woman understand that she is doing no good when she calls a child stupid. In fact, she is demonstrating that she is pretty ignorant herself. I told her that I had seen research and she just dismissed my comment. I hope that someone in Diego's life cares enough to tell him that his is wonderful and important.
